Don’t mind me I’m doing an experiment in quantum unentanglement today.
so I was there with Cliff … and I keep having flashbacks of it actually being bombed…
but there were words on the Jumbotron, “kiss a cop,” and i went to be silly and go grab one, he was waving his arms and yelling “no no no.”
kinda like how I have flashbacks of something happening at soldier field in 2005 when I saw the words “victimization” on the Jumbotron. Oh Jesus it was an experiment in observer phenomenon. What the hell did you do, Wayne? 1933 moloch sacrifice at Soldier Field.
This is a fictional depiction of a terrorist bombing of New York City on New Years Eve 1999
At 12:00 AM EST, a 15KT nuclear device is detonated in Times Square in New York City, killing an estimated 45,000 instantly and injuring up to 120,000. Response teams are immediately called to the scene to assess the situation and rescue any potential survivors.Residents within a mile of the explosion are given a shelter-in-place order until the early morning.
Despite initial reports that the attack was confined to the Times Square area, geiger-counters registered radioactive material, confirming a nuclear attack, and producing fallout that would spread up to 2 miles outward. While most nearest to the blast sheltered in place, many residents attempted to evacuate to the outer regions surrounding the city, resulting in total gridlock along all of Manhattan Island’s major and minor bridges.
The National Guard was deployed forty minutes after the attack in an attempt to keep order, which was met with riots and desperate residents attempting to escape. Two people are killed on the Brooklyn Bridge after inadvertently rushing a small group of National Guardsmen, an event that was heavily condemned by President Clinton despite the situation.
In the morning hours of January 1 2000, fallout had covered most of the inner Manhattan region, coating nearby Central Park in two inches of radioactive dust, and rendering most of the city uninhabitable. Many residents within these areas, if they hadn’t taken the necessary precautions, would be dead in the next several days due to radiation sickness.
Despite all available resources delivered by the US Government, and a recovery budget of more than $40 Billion, 85% of upper and mid-level Manhattan was declared a hazard zone and would likely not be safe for re-population until 2025, due to a mix of radioactive material and structural damage in and around the ruins of Times Square.
Those behind the attack are never found, despite frequent investigations by the FBI into numerous terror cells throughout the Middle East. Despite numerous threats in the years leading up to the attack, Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden denied responsibility for the attack, as have other recognized terrorist organizations.
An estimated 129,000 people died in the New Years Bombing, and up to 640,000 injured or suffering lifelong complications as a result of the immediate attack or its aftermath.
